Hyundai jumps onto the hybrid bandwagon. Like Ford et al, they'll have a lot of ground to cover in catching Toyota's lead in the hybrid marketplace.

Hyundai Joins Hands With LS, LG to Make Hybrid Cars

The Hyundai Motor Group will develop hybrid cars in collaboration with the LS Group and LG Chem, the company said Monday, amid growing worldwide competition in the market for more environmentally friendly cars.

A Hyundai official said the company will develop components for hybrid cards with industrial electrical goods supplier LS Group such as motors, power transmissions, inverters and wires. The two companies already set up a joint research and development team and plan a joint venture to make the hybrid car components.
